Transition to School
Help children have a great start to school.
Aims
- To provide children with opportunities to develop skills and behaviours which help facilitate a smooth transition to formal schooling. Children have the opportunity to engage in a developmental appropriate pre-school program facilitated by two qualified Early Childhood educators.
What happens
- A structured pre-school program and information for parents
- Opportunities to participate in Kindergarten orientation classes classrooms and meet the teachers and children at the school
- "Ready Set School" as its called in Western Sydney, parents will be involved through the activities which focuses on classroom skills of sharing, turn taking, waiting, lining up and following instructions.
Who comes?
Children in the year prior to school entry (i.e. those turning 4 by 31 July that year), particularly targeting children who do not attend pre-school or child care and have no experience of a formal prior-to-school setting.
