Family Support in Your Home
These programs are aimed at parents who, for various reasons, are stressed and anxious. Reasons may include a lack of social support and isolation, difficulty adjusting to parenthood, multiple births, or a child with a disability.
Families are linked to trained volunteers or professionals who are able to support them through these challenges.
Activities
Intensive Family Support
Programs that provide professional support and parenting intervention to families with complex needs over an extended period of time.
- Support needs may relate to understanding and managing a child’s behaviour and emotional responses, establishing child and parent routines, adjusting to a new baby in complex environments where professional guidance is needed.
Volunteer Home Visiting
A service for parents of young children, where the family is partnered with a trained and locally supervised volunteer (Community Parent) who visits for 2 hours each week for up to 12 months.
- The support provided in this program can help with stress by providing someone who will walk along beside you as you face the challenges and joys of parenting.
