Goodman Group Helps Build Stronger Communities

12.09.2011

Good Beginnings Australia, a national charity building better outcomes for children in vulnerable communities through effective early intervention programs, today announces a new three year partnership with global industrial property group, Goodman Group (Goodman).

The new partnership will consist of  the Goodman Foundation, which oversees Goodman Group’s community support programs with partners in Australia and internationally, and is funding five new Good Beginnings vehicles for three years in Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. These vehicles will help the charity reach more families in vulnerable communities with intensive family support out-reach services, including home visiting.

Intensive family support builds stronger communities, and the expanded home visiting these new vehicles facilitate is one of the most effective ways to reach children and parents needing support for issues that can include depression, coping, social isolation, links to parenting support services, and links to maternal child health.

Children who have positive early childhood experiences before the age of 6, in stimulating, nurturing environments, have better outcomes throughout their life – better self esteem, higher education, better health, and are better able to lead happy lives.

“Goodman’s support will help deliver better outcomes for children and families in these communities by allowing us to extend our reach,” says Jayne Meyer Tucker, Chief Executive Officer of Good Beginnings.

“Support from businesses such as Goodman is absolutely vital to Good Beginnings’ vision of a good beginning for every child, and we are delighted to partner with the management and staff of Goodman to effect positive change.”

“The Goodman Foundation’s purpose is to contribute to the work of not-for-profit organisations in the communities in which we operate, and we are delighted to be partnering with Good Beginnings to help them deliver the valuable support programs and services they provide around Australia for children and families in need.” says Goodman’s Group CEO and Goodman Foundation Chairman, Greg Goodman.

Good Beginnings programs and services include:

  • Child and Family Centres across Australia
  • Partnerships with 28 primary schools community service hubs for programs
  • Targeted support programs such as Play2Grow and Parents+Plus
  • Parent education and support groups
  • Home-based volunteer and intensive family support
